To be eligible for a study grant, one has to meet a number of conditions concerning nationality, income, educational institution, etc. Apart from grants, there are also other possibilities for getting student financial aid. Interest-free loansThe Limburgs Studiefonds is realatively unknown. Through this foundation, the province of Limburg provides interest-free loans for less well-off students. These loans have to be payed back after finishing the education. The maximum loan is € 3 000 per application. The allocation of the loan depends on the costs of the chosen education and the financial and social situation of the applicant and of the persons providing in his or her sustenance. Education


Following recent reforms in the regulation of student financial aid, the number of beneficiaries has risen substantially. Also children visiting kindergartens, pupils of elementary schools and part-time students can benefit from financial support. The amelioration of the legislation resulted in financial support for one fourth of the schoolgoing population.
