studiefinancieringFollowing recent reforms in the regulation of student financial aid, the number of beneficiaries has risen substantially. Also children visiting kindergartens, pupils of elementary schools and part-time students can benefit from financial support. The amelioration of the legislation resulted in financial support for one fourth of the schoolgoing population.

To be eligible for a study grant, one has to meet a number of conditions concerning nationality, income, educational institution, etc.

Apart from grants, there are also other possibilities for getting student financial aid.

School grants

The Flemish authorities built a website on student grants and student financial aid. Click here >>>
Furthermore, several towns and communities, in co-operation with the Flemish Department for Student Financial Aid, organise information sessions. You can find a list attached at the bottom of this article.

The International Committee can help you find your way in the legislation. Educational institutions (in Limburg) are welcome to refer to us. Schools in the five mining communities can count on our on the spot support.

Money for students

The offices for student services of higher educational institutions and universities of Flanders and Brussels also built a website with information about everything concerning life as a student and its financial aspects. Click here >>>

Interest-free loans

The Limburgs Studiefonds is realatively unknown. Through this foundation, the province of Limburg provides interest-free loans for less well-off students. These loans have to be payed back after finishing the education.

The maximum loan is € 3 000 per application. The allocation of the loan depends on the costs of the chosen education and the financial and social situation of the applicant and of the persons providing in his or her sustenance. For more information, see the files attached to this article.
